What happens to your company logins when you switch AI?
Sign in with ChatGPT sounds convenient. Untangling it later might not be.
OpenAI recently introduced Sign in with ChatGPT, and it reminded me of the social login era, when “Log in with Facebook” and “Log in with Twitter” buttons were everywhere.
Many of those buttons have faded. Google and Microsoft still remain common though.
The difference is that the latter often represent a company’s email system, employee directory, and broader work ecosystem. Something unlikely to change for years, if ever.
Now, back to ChatGPT.
I would not be surprised if Claude introduced the same feature soon. Your company might use ChatGPT today, but pricing, security, or other requirements could push you toward Gemini or a locally hosted model in the near future.
If you tie your AI provider to how your team accesses tools, changing AI ecosystems could become a migration nightmare. Suddenly, you need to untangle accounts, permissions, and access recovery too.
And if you are building an app, the same principle applies.
Offer the convenience, if it makes sense, but give users other ways in.
With AI evolving this quickly, you need to be ready and willing to switch, without messing with your company identity.
