Stop copy-pasting into ChatGPT/Claude
Let AI work where your files already live
For a while, you’ve been able to connect ChatGPT to Google Drive and let it access your Docs and Sheets.
But most people still open a Doc, copy the text, paste it into ChatGPT, ask for help and copy the answer back.
It works, but it’s level 1, where you are doing all the file handling.
Let’s increase your productivity and free your time.
Level 2: Upload whole files
This genuinely better because you give more context. More context is usually better when working with AI.
But if the file lives in Google Docs or Sheets, you now have to download it as a PDF, DOCX, XLSX or CSV, then upload it again into the chat.
Still a lot of ceremony.
Level 3: Connect Google Drive to ChatGPT
Now you point ChatGPT to the file and let it read at the source.
Big upgrade, but you’re still left with updating the original file yourself, or creating a new one.
Level 4: Use an agent that can read and write back
With a Google Drive integration inside an agent (ie. Codex or Claude plugins), you can drop a file link, or even explain where and what the file is and have it find it for you.
Then you discuss what needs to change, and have the agent update the file directly.
That’s how you close the delegation loop.
Again, think of AI as your intern. Or maybe the better phrase is junior hire.
Give it the context it needs. Have the discussion. Review the output.
Then let it handle the red tape.
