Don’t let AI turn your job into endless review
The more execution you delegate, the more your job becomes deciding what moves forward.
Your AI friend can now turn a brief into research, a draft, a plan, or even a working feature while you focus elsewhere.
But every task eventually comes back for review or approval.
If that means reading everything, reconstructing the original goal, and checking every detail, the delegation did not create much leverage.
The biggest mistake is waiting until the output arrives to decide what good looks like.
If you use Plan mode, your agent will create its own verification checklist, but that checklist is designed to catch implementation defects only.
Before delegating a task, you should write a short return checklist:
What outcome should this produce?
Which two or three things must be correct?
What should the AI flag instead of deciding alone?
By passing that checklist to the agent, your involvement after the output comes back is reduced to checking a small set of conditions and making only the decisions that genuinely need you.
For recurring work, the checklist becomes reusable, and reviewing gets faster every time. You can even make a skill out of it.
And if you cannot describe what you will check when the work comes back, the task probably is not ready to delegate. That is also a useful signal.
