Before building, define who
The role map comes first: who uses it, who maintains it, who approves it, and who owns it.
Lot of apps conversations start with screens and features.
We need a dashboard.
An admin panel.
A client portal.
A form.”
That is usually the wrong starting point. The better first questions are:
Who uses this every day?
Who enters the data?
Who approves, rejects, archives or exports?
Answers to these are not implementation details.
They are the product.
Because the same feature does not behave the same for every role or persona: a form can be onboarding for a client, operations for an admin, or compliance for a vendor.
When you miss who has to operate the workflow, everything downstream gets messy during execution.
So start with the boring role map. Surface the business processes first.
Then build.
